Yesterday I had an interview. I got a call for an admin. marketing assistant position with Disney. Totally excited and never having had a panel interview before I was nervous but decided to treat it like an audition. I prepped my material (Resumes and requirements of the job in detail) and waited patiently in the office. I was sure to arrive a little early of course so I could calm my nerves and take in my surroundings…POSTERS huge posters of the Disney Broadway Shows on the walls. Beautiful pictures of The Little Mermaid, Tarzan, Mary Poppins and of course The Lion King. I think my interview went extremely well because I didn’t have to hold anything back. I was there because I have theatre experience and because I know how to be an admin assistant and when I mentioned that I was stage managing a production one of the guys commented that the job is very similar to being a stage manager. Keeping track of time and scheduling. I had all that experience before working with George as well as all the shows I’ve worked on amongst various other things. I just felt right. Ya know? Some places you work for you feel like there is something missing? You don’t quite fit? But I felt like I fit. So cross fingers and say a little prayer for me?

Working in midtown is really nice but lunch is wayyyyyy expensive. I mean subway is usually $8 bucks for footlong meal. Right? Well around here if you want to eat cheap stick to what you know…Mcdonalds and Wendy’s. Otherwise if you do have the cash…you should treat yourself to a wonderful lunch J I treated myself to lunch a few times this past week and a half. I was craving sushi…or Indian….I love spicy foods so I was looking for sushi and the first place I found was a That restaurant called Thai-Nam. Well it’s not sushi but I stopped in and sat at the bar where I met Arthur. Nice guy.
Then I think it was the next day or maybe someday that week…I found a Salad, Soup, sandwich place that actually does your salad in steps…You pick the lettuce and size then add your meat then add like 3 extra big sides, then all the toppings you want!!! YUMMY! I love salads. It was 8 bucks but really delicious. Then I went back towards the Thai restaurant and thought I found a sushi place but it turned out to be a Noodle place called Menchankotei that serves this noodle-soup dish that apparently sumo wrestlers used to eat. They have different flavors of ramen noodles and you can pick the meat that’s in it. So, since I couldn’t find sushi and it wasn’t Indian food I decided to make it a curry dish. At that bar I met a guy named Thenarsi. Friendly guy. Here’s a pic:

Then…I finally found a sushi place. Sushi Yasuda. I sat down at the sushi bar and realized this was a high class place. But if it’s sooo High class what’s with the mini-soda for $4?

I ordered the sashmi and sushi combo it was $20 bucks and usually lunch specials include soup or salad…they charged me another $4 for a half a cup of lettuce and a piece of a half of a grape tomato. Yea…ok. The sashimi was sliced particularly small and the sushi was average. IDK maybe Miami just has better/cheaper sushi?? If anything service and presentation was beautiful as the Asian’s usually are great at ;)

Well if anything I was walking past one place that advertises 99 cent pizza.

I hear it’s pretty good too…maybe next week!
And there’s a fish here named Sid. An angelfish I think…I always say good morning to it and the other day he was apparently not moving. Everyone gathered around the fishbowl worried and we almost announced him dead but my supervisor Rebecca just said yea he’s not long for this world and we went back to work. Then one of the guys in the back pipes up and says ever since the new girl got here stuff keeps getting screwy like the copier and now the fish! I was like HEY! All I do is say good morning to it!! He say’s that’s bad enough…and everyone laughed. Well I guess Rebecca changed him into a fresh bowl and a few hrs later he was up and swimming! Yay! So, here’s a pic of Sid.

And finally…who can solve the mystery of these signs??

I mean does that mean that wheelchaired individuals can’t STAND near their busstop??
Geesh…anyways. Wish me “BREAK A LEG” for Torrents and if your in NY I hope to see you after the show!
Take care everyone and All the best!!
Amada
